Keith Leroy Schultz, 82, of Springfield, was called by the angels to be with his heavenly family on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville after a short illness.

Keith was born June 14, 1939, in Logan, Ohio to Keith L. Schultz, Sr., and Ruth Mildred Laube Schultz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by his first wife and the mother of his daughters: Frieda Fortner Schultz, and by his daughter Lisa Schultz Thurtell.

Keith was a Christian first, then a statesman and scholar. He graduated from Logan High School and attended The Ohio State University. A man that loved and served the Lord by reading his Bible, praying and sharing his word of Scripture with his Sunday School Class, and as a Lay Speaker. He was a member of New Chapel United Methodist Church and was currently attending Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Keith retired from Kroger as manager of several of their different entities that were located in Ohio, Texas, Arkansas, and later settled in Springfield to manage Delight Products until his retirement. After his retirement, he purchased Spin A Pin Lanes Bowling Center from Mac and Evelyn Felts. He was the second owner and sold it when he retired to Marathon Oil Company, which is now Speedway.

He loved Springfield and wanted to see it grow. He became an alderman for his ward and later became Vice Mayor for the City. In addition to serving the City of Springfield, Keith wanted to serve his country by being part of the City, County, and State elections by being an Officer at a voting precinct. He was looking forward to serving with the upcoming elections. He believed that every legal person should have the right to vote and follow through by voting on election day or early voting.

He was a member of the Coopertown Men’s Club, the Springfield Rotary Club receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award, the New Chapel Men’s Club, and served as chairman of the board for the Springfield/Robertson County Senior Citizens. He was a founder of the Springfield/Robertson County Food Bank, that later merged with Second Harvest Food Bank.

Keith was very knowledgeable and loved history. He was an advocate for everyone, but especially to children. As a member of the Springfield Rotary Club, he loved sharing in the bike give-aways to children that were high achievers. He loved seeing that smile on their face when they were chosen as a recipient. When owning the Bowling Center, he donated his time and lanes free for any child in the school system that wanted to learn how to bowl.

If you knew Keith, you had a friend. He listened to what you had to say and even if he didn’t agree, he supported your opinion. He was all about helping other people. If you were down on your luck, he was there to help. He wanted everyone to be treated equally and fair.

He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was especially ready to watch his great grandchildren Xander and Kennedy participate in the sport they liked, and he didn’t mind telling people how proud he was of them.

Keith is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Pamela Britton Schultz, by his daughter Valarie Schultz Palmer and her husband Bob, by his grandchildren Kayla Schultz Head and husband Brandon, Melissa D. Palmer, and Michael Palmer, by his great-grandchildren Xander Keith Head and Kennedy Head, by his stepsons Michael T. Armstrong and wife Kelley, Steven C. Armstrong, and wife Celeste, by his step-grandchildren Daniel W. Armstrong and wife Brittany, Dalton C. Armstrong and fiancé Addie Martin, Ceanna D.
