Former Mayor of White House Passes Away

John Decker, the former mayor of the City of White House, passed away on July 1, 2023.

Mayor John Decker served the City White House residents for over 30 years.

Mayor Decker started serving the City of White House as Ward 4 Alderman in March 1989 and served as Mayor from 2005 until the end of 2010. Former Mayor Decker continued to serve as Ward 4 Alderman from 2011 till 2022. Mayor Decker served on numerous boards, commissions, and committees during his political career.

In 2002, the White House Police Station at the corner of North Palmers Chapel and Tyree Springs Road was named the John W. Decker Policy Facility.

“The City of White House will always be grateful and indebted for all the years of service from Mayor John Decker. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mayor Decker’s family and friends as we mourn the loss of this great servant,” the City of White House stated.

Visitation will be at White House Cole and Garrett this Thursday (7/6) from 4pm to 8pm. Visitation on Friday (7/7) will be held at the Church at Grace Park from 11am to 1pm, with his Celebration of Life to follow at 1pm.
