A man lost his home and his dog after a fire in Adams, Smokey Barns News reports.
When firefighters arrived to the scene on Woodruff Road around 9pm, a small camper was fully engulfed in flames, according to Adams Fire Chief Donovan Tucker.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire but the flames had already spread through the small trailer, destroying it completely. The man escaped the fire without injuries, but his dog did not survive.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the man with housing and arranged a hotel stay in Springfield for the night, Tucker said.
