Middle Tennessee is bursting with holiday cheer, and United Communications joins in the spirit each year by participating in local holiday parades. Decked out in festive lights and garland, United’s bucket truck, accompanied by beloved mascots Webbie and Filbert, brings smiles to parade-goers. This year, a volunteer team will hand out treats at the holiday parades in Lebanon and Shelbyville! Sponsoring Local Families with a Giving Drive
For many years, United Communications’ People and Culture team has brought holiday cheer to Middle Tennessee families through a giving drive, rallying employees in November and December to help those in need. Partnering with local charities to identify families, United’s team gathers donations from employees, which United then matches to make the season truly magical.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of both employees and the company, United Communications has sponsored the holidays for multiple families, providing toys for the children, warm clothing, and gift cards for a festive holiday meal.
Connectivity for a Cause
United Communications’ newest initiative to support the local community is the easiest way for you to help your local schools, sports teams, clubs, or 501c3 not-for-profit organizations by providing the funds that they need to support their programming. Through Connectivity for a Cause, local community programs can earn a $100 Visa e-gift card for every newly referred United customer using a shared organization link or a QR code provided by the United Communications team. With no limits on the specific amount that an organization can earn in total, it’s just one more way that United helps support the most important causes in Middle Tennessee!
The Spirit of Giving Goes Year-Round
The holidays might encourage extra attention to giving back in Middle Tennessee, but United Communications embodies the spirit of giving throughout the year. Many of their employees have causes in the local community that they are passionate about, and United empowers their employees to give back by providing paid time off to volunteer or serve. While this benefit is available year-round, the holidays offer ample opportunities for employees to volunteer.
United also spearheads multiple efforts to donate as a company to valuable causes throughout the year, especially those that support the region’s children. With the United Community Foundation, United Communications’ annual scholarship program, more than $55,000 in merit-based scholarships have been awarded to exceptional students from area high schools over the past 14 years.
An inaugural Back to School Giveaway for the 2024-2025 academic year awarded a local student a backpack filled with school supplies, a tablet, and gift cards totaling $500. Additionally, United continues to support the Boys & Girls Clubs across multiple counties in Middle Tennessee. United Communications has provided free broadband internet to multiple clubs through Project UNITE and sponsored local events to raise funds for program needs.
