Springfield Electric and TVA EnergyRight Partner to Offer Home Uplift to Community

The Springfield Electric Department has announced a partnership with TVA EnergyRight® to offer the Home Uplift program to approximately 12 income-qualified homeowners in the Springfield Electric community. Through Home Uplift, participating homeowners can receive free home energy upgrades funded by TVA and Springfield Electric Department. These upgrades increase the energy efficiency and comfort of the home while lowering energy bills.

In addition to receiving energy upgrades installed by a member of the TVA-trained Quality Contractor Network, Home Uplift participants also receive energy education focused on empowering homeowners to take control of their energy use through low-cost and no-cost energy-saving techniques.

Qualifying households must meet federal Weatherization Assistance Program income requirements (200% of the federal poverty level or below), undergo an energy audit, and own or rent (landlord approval required) a single-family home or live in a home owned by a partnering housing authority. Manufactured homes may also participate in the program if they are on a permanent foundation and built post 1976.

Upgrades typically made through the program include HVAC repair/replacement, insulation, air penetration reduction, replacing windows and doors, as well as minor health and safety repairs that enable energy upgrades.

“We are proud to partner with Springfield Electric Department to change lives one home at a time,” said Cindy Herron, vice president of Energy Services & Programs for TVA. “By investing in home energy upgrades, we are helping our neighbors save money on their power bills, live healthier, and enjoy a better quality of life.”

“The Home Uplift program is truly life-changing for people,” said Jessica Cleveland, energy services advisor at Springfield Electric. “We are so excited to be able to work with TVA and give back to the members of our community who are in need of these home energy upgrades and look forward to helping as many people as possible.”

Springfield Electric Department customers can apply for Home Uplift by calling (615) 384-6770 and asking to speak to Jessica Cleveland. Due to limited funding, qualified participants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
