The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department is proud to offer a new special needs baseball league for boys and girls of all ages this spring.
Participants, led by volunteer coaches, will work to improve participants’ skills in throwing, catching, and hitting while learning to work as a team. Teams will practice once a week beginning in March. Regular season play will take place in April and May and consist of one game per week.
“After hosting the first ever Special Needs Fishing Rodeo this past October we recognized the need for other special needs events,” said Springfield Parks and Recreation Director Terry Martin. “We are hopeful to introduce additional leagues in the near future.”
Due to the generosity of Springfield Baptist Church sponsoring the league, participation in the league is free. Registration for the league is available in-person at The Center through March 7, 2022.
