Springfield has officially been named one of Tennessee’s newest Main Street communities, earning a designation through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development’s Community and Rural Development Division.
The designation places Springfield among 49 Tennessee Main Street communities and provides access to planning resources, training, and a statewide network focused on strengthening downtown districts, supporting local businesses, and promoting economic growth.
Tourism and Main Street Coordinator Madie McCormick said the recognition is the result of years of planning and collaboration.
“Becoming a Tennessee Main Street community is an exciting milestone for Springfield and the result of years of vision and dedication,” McCormick said. “This designation is a testament to the dedication of our city leadership, downtown businesses, volunteers, and community partners who all believe in the future of Downtown Springfield.”
City leaders said the designation will help support ongoing revitalization efforts while providing additional tools and resources to enhance Springfield’s historic downtown.
