William Ira Dawson, age 83, of Greenbrier, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his home.
Mr. Dawson was born August 23, 1939 in Old Hickory, TN to the late Howard and Lena Knight Dawson.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member, and Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church of Greenbrier.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by a sister, Cornelia Hand.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnette Dawson; daughter, Bethany (Jeff) Ballard; 2 grandchildren, Grant Ballard and Ethan Ballard; and a brother, Randall (Teresa) Dawson.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Saturday, February 25, 2023 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Bro. Nathan Washburn and Bro. Joe Donald King officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jeff May, Greg May, Dennis Ford, Michael Lipscomb, Bob Crain, Levi Dawson and Tommy Maitland serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Adult 4 Sunday School Class and the Deacons of First Baptist Church in Greenbrier.
The family received friends from 11 am until the time of the service at 2 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes, 1310 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027 or to the First Baptist Church of Greenbrier, Vision Fund, 2518 Highway 41 S, Greenbrier, TN 37073.
