Walter Joseph Remo

“Goober”, age 86 of Cross Plains, TN went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 30, 2021 at his home. He was born on January 3, 1935 in Russellton, PA to Wassel & Margaret Remo.

He worked as a master carpenter. His big dream was to build his own home, which he completed in his 60’s. He was a hard-working man, whose only hobby was his family. He was previously employed by John Rochford in Nashville, TN. He was credited with building the smallest tugboat on the Ohio River. It was the most powerful one built for its size and was named for him. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in January and was baptized on July 18th at Orlinda Baptist Church, where he had been attending.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 children, Coby Remo, and an unborn infant.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Remo, Cross Plains, TN; sons, Walter Joseph Remo, Jr., Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph Walter Remo (Suzanne), Cottontown, TN and Michael Jason Remo (Tiffney) Hendersonville, TN; daughters, Peggy LaScola, Pittsburgh, PA and Jennifer Walsh, Columbia, KY; sister, Dorothy Calderaro, Cross Plains, TN; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 7 pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Lance Wamble officiating. Visitation is planned from 5-7 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Orlinda Baptist Church.
