Marie Hawkins Butler, age 82 of Greenbrier, Tennessee passed away on June 14, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 24, 1939, to the late John and Maggie Hawkins in Natchez, Mississippi.

In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her two-infant daughters, Marvette Butler and Velma Butler.

Marie was converted to Christ on July 31, 1957. She was a member of Community Baptist Church since 1990. She was a homemaker and made sure her family had all the love and care they needed. Marie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cooking their favorite meals. In her spare time, you could find Marie, reading books, working a crossword, or teaching her children lessons they will remember forever.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Andrew Butler, Jr.; children Pamela Bethley, Anthony (LaShonda) Butler, Kevin (Freida) Butler, Kimberly McKissack, Jabada (Louis) Kemp IV, Linda Williams(stepchild) Felicia Shannon(stepchild) and Nicholas (Kim) Shannon(stepchild), James (Julie) Allen III (nephew); grandchildren, Dedrick Butler, DeShanté Butler, Vanesshia Farmer, Saprina Milton (and her stepfather, Master Sweeney), Keeshell Butler, Anthony Butler. Jr, De’Anthony Butler, Jaylin Kemp, Timahj Peyton, Charles Kemp, Kevin Butler, Derrick McKissack Jr. (and his father, Derrick, Sr.), and Jabari Kemp; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Inez Hawkins (deceased) John Hawkins, Jr., Claude Hawkins, Winola Bell, Carrie Jean Bass, Alice Jones, Odell Hawkins, Annie Lee King, and Irvin Hawkins and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 22nd with Rev. Donald Butler Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
