Mable DeLene Mitchum Currie joined her Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022, she was 87 years old.

She was born August 18, 1935, in Vance, SC to the late C.P. & Josephine Jackson Mitchum, Sr.

She graduated Holly Hill High School and Orangeburg School of Radiological Technicians. She married & traveled the US with her USAF husband, later settling in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1969 where she was always a dedicated wife and Mom.

Through the years, she had a large extended family (she loved her children’s friends as her own). She later worked in sales & personnel management; then became a Substitute teacher then an Assistant Library Media Specialist with the Horry County School System.

They retired & moved to White House, TN in 1999. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John “Tommy” Currie Sr; her daughter, Sherrie Hockman; her great-grandson, Braxton Fuqua; brother, JT Mitchum & sister Vermelle (Ed) Geiger; brother-in-law Sonny Greene, as well as niece, Kim M Livingston.

She is survived by sister, Cammie “Mitch” Greene (Hamlet, NC) & brother, C. Pinckney (Bea) Mitchum II (Santee, SC) and son, John Currie, Jr (White House, TN), daughters, Michele Buckner (Hopewell, VA), Tracy (Dennis) Todd (White House, TN0, sister-in-law Faye Mitchum (Sumter, SC), and son-in-law, Larry Hockman (Conway, SC) as well as grandchildren, Alexandra & Corey Dangerfield, Nicole Buckner, Nicholaus Buckner, Thomas Currie, Stephanie & Brandon Moore and Nicole Turnbow. Great grandchildren, John Dangerfield, William Dangerfield, Kylee O’Riley, Kelsey Abernathy, Dylin Moore & Berlin Curtis IV. Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

A celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 7, 2022 @ Noon at Springfield Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home (visitation will be 1 hour before service). Dr. Donnie Bryant will officiate. Burial will be at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Jack Oden officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN or the American Heart Association.
