John Samuel Smith, age 93 of White House, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

John was born on August 25, 1930 in Jericho, Arkansas to the late James and Ella Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Darlene Smith; his son, Jon Smith; and 9 siblings.

He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Spencer (Chip) and Megan Smith (David Dougherty); 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister, Becky Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, John was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and woodworking; he was a true craftsman building model ships that he fabricated every piece himself.

He was a rare book collector and had an extensive collection. John was retired from Carlisle Tire and Rubber and had previously worked with Gates and Armstrong over the span of his 50 year career in the tire industry. John donated many hours to several boards and organizations over the years, volunteering his time and talents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4095 Highway 31W, White House, Tennessee. John will be laid to rest at a later date at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. https://www.sumnerfuneral.com
