The celebration will include Opry members Josh Turner, Mark Wills, and Gary Mule Deer, along with special guests Paul Overstreet, James Dupré, and others.

The anniversary celebration comes just weeks after Travis releases Same Old Way on November 13, his first original album in 18 years. The album is available for pre-order here.

Travis made his first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage in March 1986, introduced by Little Jimmy Dickens while he was still working as a cook at the Nashville Palace. Following the success of his debut album, Storms of Life, Travis was officially inducted into the Opry on December 20, 1986, by Ricky Skaggs.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Storms of Life, which spent eight weeks at No. 1 and 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. The album made Travis the first solo country artist to earn a platinum and later multi-platinum certification for a debut album.

The project produced some of Travis’ most recognizable songs, including “On the Other Hand,” “Diggin’ Up Bones,” “1982” and “No Place Like Home.” It also earned several major honors, including ACM Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Top New Male Vocalist and Top Male Vocalist, along with the CMA Horizon Award.

Tickets for the December 11 anniversary celebration are available at Opry.com.
