Ethel Mae Groves, age 86, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 at 2 pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Buddy Rawls and Brother Curtis Hester officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with David Allen Hall, Ricky Hagan, David Clouse, Randy McEwing, Jack Groves, and Warren Osborne serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Teddy Hall and Ashley Eden.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on August 27th from 10 am until the hour of service at 2 pm.
Mrs. Groves was born May 19, 1935 in Bowling Green, KY to the late George Thomas and Eula Mae Golden Tinsley. She worked at Genesco and was of the Pentecostal faith. She loved her family and friends, crocheting, quilting, drawing and coloring, and cooking and fishing.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Groves is preceded in death by her first husband, Kinslow Lam, her second husband, Billy L. Groves, her sister, Aileen Hagan, her brother Earl T. Tinsley, daughter, Diane Casey, and her sons, Jerry Lam and Doug Lam.
Mrs. Groves is survived by her son, Timothy (Kathy) Groves of Springfield; daughters, Cindy (David) Groves of Springfield, Terrie (Brad) Hansen of Iowa and Sharon Mantlo of Springfield; brother, Robert (Judy) Tinsley of Bowling Green; sisters, Cynthia Elmore and Frances Simmons, both of Bowling Green; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
