Dora Sue Harris Chism, age 94 of Greenbrier passed away at her home Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier with Bro. Nathan Washburn officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Bill Norwood, Matt Norwood, Jared Norwood, Mark Bradfield, Wayne Dugger, and Rex Bass serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 9 am to 11:30 am on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Sue was born in Wildersville, TN on August 10, 1927 to W. O. and Lizzie Johnson Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Barry Chism. She was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Wendy Dugger; sister, Dortha Bradfield and brother, Rev. Hugh Harris.
She loved her family and spending time with them was very important. She was a graduate of Central High School in Bruceton, TN, and Draughons business College in Nashville. She was a homemaker before working for many years at the Greenbrier Department Store. She later worked several years as a dental assistant. She enjoyed sewing, flowers and was an avid collector of figurines. Cruising with her husband in their restored “56 Chevy was a favorite pastime. She was an active member of Greenbrier First Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She is survived by her son, Dale (Marilyn) Chism of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Melissa (Bill) Norwood of Murfreesboro, TN and Carol (Wayne) Dugger of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Dr. Jared Norwood, Matt Norwood, Eric (Sarah) Dugger, and 7 great-grandchildren.
