Cynthia Anne Hewell Burgess, age 90, of Cedar Hill, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Mrs. Burgess was born August 22, 1932 in Bristol, TN to the late William and Bertha Shinn Hewell. She worked as a clerk at Ace Hardware and was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burgess is preceded in death by her husband, Edd Burgess, her brother, James Hewell, her sisters, Ruth Lacey and Dorothy Hewell, and her nephew, Wayne Hewell.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her step-daughter, Sue Burgess; niece, Beth Lacey; and nephew, Allen Lacey.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 12 Noon in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Frank Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Crawford, Eric Hurt, Lynn Batey, Chuck Ritcher, Rex Wilson and Troy Head serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Richards, Trent Randolph, Lee Batey and Corey Head.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until the hour of service at 12 Noon.
