Carrie Early Batts, age 82 of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Mrs. Carrie was born September 18, 1939 in Orlinda to the late Charles Houston and Ora May Wilks Early.

She was a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church and was retired from the personnel department at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital. She had done a lot of interpreting for the deaf at places like the hospital, schools, and funerals. She enjoyed talking on the phone and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Batts; daughter, Sheila Gayle Dixon; brother, Michael Early; and sisters, Mary Horn, Dorothy Timberlake, and Nancy Summers.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Rosemary Dixon, Steven and Jeannine Dixon, and David and Megan Dean Lowe, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Kameron Gayle Vaughan, Miranda Dawn Hoolihan, and Kayla Leeann Lowe; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Kevin Early, Jimmy Summers, Jerry Summers, Don Dixon, David Lowe, and Cody Haywood serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12 PM until the hour of service.

The family request, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
