Bruce Gregory, formerly of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away at the age of 77 in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday, August 8th, 2024.
Bruce was born on August 23rd, 1946, in Robertson County, TN to the late Harvey ‘Harold’ and Earline Burnett Gregory.
He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1965. Bruce worked in Logistics at Unarco Material Handling for 36 years and retired as a Logistics Manager at Hoge Motor Company in 2011. A few years after retirement, Bruce and his wife Ellen moved to Jacksonville, FL to warmer weather and sunshine.
Bruce was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Springfield, TN and attended Jacksonville Beach Church of Christ. He was an avid golfer that loved his Saturday morning golf rounds at the Legacy with his golf buddies, he was a youth Sunday School teacher who led many people to Christ, he loved traveling, fishing (especially in Maine) and spending time with his four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Rayburn Gregory, and his in-laws Lawrence and Katherine Hoge.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ellen Hoge Gregory of Jacksonville, FL, by his son and daughter-in-law Ivan and Brooke Gregory of Roswell, GA , by his son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Lauren Gregory of Nashville, TN, his daughter Amber Paige Gregory of Piney Flats, TN, by his brothers Tommy (Patsy) Gregory, Ronnie Gregory, and Gary Gregory, by his sisters Patricia Collier, and Sue (Donald) Agee, by his grandchildren Henry Bruce Gregory, Olivia Katherine Gregory, Margaret Claire Gregory and Sutton Blaire Gregory, and by several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 17th at 1:00 pm in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Joe Rushing officiating. Interment will follow in Roney Family Cemetery in Cross Plains with Pete Clinard, Nicky Gregory, Jason Hinkle, Bob Hogan, Donnie Hogan, Tom Kerns, John Thomson and Jeff Traughber serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Antran, Paul Donegan, Bob Findley, Chuck Helderman, Gary Hicks, Glen Jordan, Larry Lanier, Jim Rowell, Rick Rummel, Ed Smith, Josh Wells and Roy Williams. A celebration of life will be held in Jacksonville, Florida at a later date.
