White House City Administrator Gerald Herman has been honored with the prestigious TCMA’s City Manager of the Year award for 2024.
With over 40 years of dedication to local government, City Administrator Gerald Herman’s journey began with service in the U.S. Marine Corps, followed by a distinguished career in law enforcement in Northwood, Ohio, where he rose to the rank of Chief of Police. Moving to White House in 2008 as Police Chief, he transitioned to City Administrator in 2012 and has since spearheaded transformative projects.
Under City Administrator Gerald Herman’s stewardship, White House has undergone a remarkable transformation. The City has welcomed numerous businesses, housing developments, and infrastructure upgrades, making the city a location to live, work, and play. Noteworthy projects include the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant, road and sidewalk improvements, and the creation of beautiful parks and recreational facilities.
City Administrator Gerald Herman’s contributions cannot be discussed without mentioning his dedication to the City of White House employees. His commitment to the employees is impressive, as he values each employee not only as an asset to the City but also as an individual. He considers how every decision he makes will impact the employees and their families. He has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for the employees by increasing salaries, decreasing the costs of insurance, and enriching the benefits. He has attempted to keep up with the increased workload the employees face by adding 45 full-time employees. As City Administrator Gerald Herman has worked for over 40 years in local government, he understands that the employees are the City’s most valuable assets and strives to ensure that employees know how valued they are.
