A crash involving two tractor-trailers sparked a vehicle fire Tuesday morning, forcing the closure of Interstate 65 northbound near Bethel Road in Robertson County.
According to TDOT, the crash happened near mile marker 105. One of the tractor-trailers was hauling pallets of newspapers, leaving debris scattered across the interstate. One southbound lane was also temporarily closed.
A detour was put in place at Exit 104 while TDOT crews responded with loaders, a skid steer, and a backhoe to clear the debris. Traffic trapped behind the crash was turned around as crews worked at the scene.
As of 9:30 a.m., the left northbound lane has reopened, but the right lane remains closed. TDOT expects to continue cleanup efforts as crews work to fully reopen the interstate.
Motorists are urged to use caution and expect delays in the area.
