Springfield High Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets Earn Highest Air Force Unit Assessment Attainable

The Air Force Junior ROTC instructors and cadets of Springfield High School in Springfield, TN earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards”…the highest rating attainable…during their evaluation on November 15, 2021.

Master Sergeant (Retired), Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Robert D. Nation, and Major (Retired) Dale M. Lightfoot created a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with an excellent community outreach. The instructors provided outstanding leadership in administering the cadet centered citizenship program.

In a letter to SHS principal, Larry Staggs, Air Force JROTC Director, Colonel Johnny R. McGonigal said in part, “Your AFJROTC unit earned an overall ‘Exceeds Standards.’ This is the highest rating attainable! Congratulations to you, your instructor team, and the cadet corps. The cadets were very impressive and displayed exemplary pride in their unit. Your instructors are exceptional role models and are providing a high quality AFJROTC program.

The Springfield High School cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals. The Springfield High School Air Force ROTC citizenship program is making a positive impact on the cadets, the school and the community.
