The City of Springfield has received reports indicating an individual has contacted them by phone requesting their social security number and to pay a fine with gift cards.

The City of Springfield reminds residents that law enforcement will never call asking you to mail cash, wire transfer, or pay with a credit or debit card over the phone. Contact law enforcement before sending any money to an unknown organization that has contacted you directly.
