The return was celebrated Saturday, Aug. 22, ahead of a 7 p.m. performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Mayor Freddie O’Connell and other special guests took part in pre-show remarks recognizing the longtime Nashville tradition, which dates back to 1988.

Productions were held at oneC1TY from 2019 through 2025 while the festival was away from the bandshell.

Shakespeare in the Park operates on a pay-what-you-will, donation-based model, making professional outdoor theater accessible to the community. Over the years, hundreds of thousands of people have attended productions featuring live theater, music, food trucks and other activities under the stars.

The Nashville Shakespeare Festival is also looking ahead to a major change beginning in 2027. The Playhouse will transform the historic Centennial Park Bandshell into an Elizabethan-inspired theater each summer.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream runs Thursdays-Sundays, August 20-September 20 and Labor Day Monday, September 7.

Nightly Schedule:
5:15 pm – Vendors Open
