Born on January 23, 1941, Vernon grew into a man known for his kindness and unwavering Christian spirit. In his career in purchasing for Robert Orr (Sysco), his employment with State Government, and in his self-employment activities as a handyman, Vernon radiated a distinctive and unusual joy. Vernon Ray Costello can be best described as a hard-working, passionate, joyful man, who loved his Lord, loved his family, and loved living zestfully.
Vernon is a member of Pleasant View First Baptist Church and particularly enjoyed singing with enthusiasm the traditional hymns he learned as a youngster growing up in West Nashville.
Vernon is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda Costello; children, Jennifer Hardy (Paul), Vernon Ray Costello, Jr. (Donna and their children), stepdaughter, Anna Blythe Wyatt, stepson, Oscar Dewayne Blythe; grandchildren, Justin Blythe, Jarrett Blythe, Harrison Blythe, Emma Grace Blythe, Baylor Blythe; brother, David Costello (Sally); sisters, Mildred Klingbyll (James), Patricia Hall (Gary, now deceased), and Donna Copas (Mark). Vernon is now with his other daughter, Susan Hosaflook, who is deceased.
A favorite Bible passage from Revelation 14:13 states: “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
Vernon’s good deeds are well known and will continue to live in the minds and hearts of many who were privileged to know him.
