Thomas “Ole Tom” Ewing Rawls, 87, of Greenbrier, passed from this life on Friday, April 12, 2024, at his home.

Tom was born August 28, 1936, in Greenbrier, to the late Joseph E. and Emmie Irene “Pet” Cook Rawls.

He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1954, was retired from Dupont, and was a member of the Organic Community Church in Greenbrier. Tom was a founding owner of Industrial Maintenance and Engineering (IM&E) and was the owner of Ole Tom’s Classic Cars. He loved farming, fishing, camping, and anything that allowed him to be outdoors. Tom always enjoyed sharing with others by taking them fresh vegetables, and he had a great love for old cars.

He had a passion and a love for Southern Gospel Music. Tom was an original member of the Missionaires Quartet, where he sung first tenor, and was a member of the Resurrection Quartet. He loved his family, his friends, and always enjoyed a good conversation with others. Tom was known as “Dad”, “Pappy”, “Ole Tom”, and he always showed love and concern for his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter: Tempa Jo Rawls, by his half-brother: Eldridge Dorris, and by Patricia “Pat” Newton Rawls.

Tom is survived by his son: Reverend Thomas M. “Tee” Rawls of White House, by his daughters: Pamela (Jerry) Newman and Patrina Lyn Rawls both of Greenbrier, by his sister: Ann Rawls Fisher of Greenbrier, by his grandchildren: Amanda (Travis) Covington, Hunter (Kaitlin) VanDervort, Cole (Macayla) Rawls, and Tucker (Raeanna) Rawls, by his great-granddaughters: Layla Belle Covington, Tempa Mae Covington, and Charlie Rose VanDervort, by his soon to be born great-grandsons: Graham Rawls and Knox Rawls, and by many extended family and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, his remains were donated to The Genesis Program at the Medical Education and Research Institute.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church 3323 Bethlehem Rd. Springfield, TN 37172, with Reverend Thomas M. “Tee” Rawls officiating. There will be a time of visitation with the family beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1st at the church.
