Speedy Ogg, age 71 of Greenbrier, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2021 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage.

Haze Robert Ogg was born on December 2, 1950 to Lloyd Taylor and Betty Ogg in Lee County, Virginia. He was a high school graduate of Hume-Fogg Academic High School and became an electrician. He got the nickname “Speedy” from his maternal grandfather because he was always on the go. That love for being on the go transferred over to his need for speed and by the age of 16 Speedy was drag racing Motorcycles. His love for drag racing led him to different race tracks around the country including Union Hill, Beech Bend, and Paradise Drag Strip in Calhoun, GA. He won many awards over the years and passed his love down to his children and grandchildren. Speedy enjoyed spending quality time with his family, he coached the girl’s softball team as they grew up. He married the love of his life on December 2, 2010 and they enjoyed 11 wonderful years together.

He is preceded in death by his father, Llyod Taylor Ogg; brother, Llyod Marcus Ogg and grandson, Connor Robinson.

Speedy is survived by his wife, Kathy G. Ogg; daughters, Mickey (Steve) Robinson and Tiffany (Eric) Saunders; son, Pete Ogg; grandchildren, Sylea (Craig) Holiday, Kolt Robinson, Eyan Saunders, and Krysten Robinson; mother, Betty Pennington; sister, Colleen Glover; nephews and niece, Daniel Mefford, Travis Mefford, and Amberlee Glover West.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday at 3 pm with Brother Morris Watson officiating burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-8 pm then again on Saturday from 2 pm until the time of service. Online condolences can be made at www.SpringfieldFH.com.
