Shirley Louise Jackson, age 74 of Greenbrier, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on December 3, 2022.

She was born on August 21, 1948, to the late George Morton Allen and Luetta Ophelia Broadrick Croslin in Springfield.

Mrs. Jackson worked for many years as a babysitter and was known as “EZ” since most of the children couldn’t say her name. Mrs. Jackson, better known as “Gandy”, loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grands. She was a member of the Greenbrier Lodge Eastern Star, Solid Rock Baptist Church for many years and grew up at Owens Chapel Methodist Church.

Mrs. Jackson enjoyed going to yard sales to look for another unique chicken for her collection at home or another wooden egg for the basket that the grandchildren loved to play with. She enjoyed a good game of Rummy or Shanghai, singing karaoke, especially duets with Jimmy, and the many years spent at their place on the river. She had a green thumb and loved tending to her flowers and plants.

She also loved Christmas and shopping for the special Christmas ornaments that she would get for each of the grandchildren that year. These memories and many more will live in the hearts of all who knew her for years to come.

Survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, James “Jimmy” Jackson; Daughter, Kathy (Scott) Wiggins; Sons, Tony (Lisa) Cook and Christopher (Chasity) Jackson; grandchildren, Savannah (Ethan) Jensen, Jailyn (Mikey) Grogan, Sydney (Jestin) Cooper, Harley (Cameron) Curry, Kaitlyn Spain, CJ (Halee) Jackson, Dalton Cook and Shelby Cook.; seven great-grandchildren; Canine companion, Sophie; Siblings, Donnie (Suzy) Jones and Marcia Jones; special cousin, Sarah Mims.

A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 1 pm in the chapel of Springfield Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. https://www.springfieldfh.com
