Shirley Cavender Nipper, age 84, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Tristar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 12 pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Marvin Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams with Donald Bennett, Randy Cavender, Scotty Cavender, Ross Raymer, Jr., Mac Wilson, and Kenneth Holman serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 am until the hour of service at 12 pm.
Mrs. Nipper was born October 24, 1936 in Davidson County to the late Herschel Hubert and Pearl Choate Cavender, Sr. She was a bookkeeper for the East Tennessee Automobile Club in Knoxville for 36 years. She also worked for three other companies combined, a total of 53 years, before retiring in 2009. She was a member of the Adams Church of Christ, she loved her family, she loved the Lord, and she loved reading the Bible.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nipper is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wayne Nipper, her sisters, Mildred Stuard, Marie Comperry, and Gladys Carr, and her brothers, Sunny Cavender and Mack Cavender.
Mrs. Nipper is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Wayne and Jodyann Nipper of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren, Travin Jedrek “T.J.” Nipper and Kalista Cadee Nipper; special friends, Mackie Holman, Noreen Spain, Mary Sprouse, Eddie Sayne, and Bill Willett; special niece, Nancy Lyda; and several nephews and nieces.
