Nellie Iris Montanez, age 90, of Greenbrier, TN, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Mrs. Montanez was born February 24, 1934 in Puerto Rico, to the late Antonio and Luisa Semorile Santiago.
Mrs. Montanez lived in New York until 2011. She was very family oriented, very giving and forgiving, loved to sing, cook, babysit and care for children. Mrs. Montanez volunteered to care for the handicapped and elderly, and did marriage counseling. She was a member an Elder at Iglesia Hispana Bautista Rios de Agu Viva
Mrs. Montanez is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rafael Montanez; children, Marie (Henry) Ramos, Evette Ramos, Frank (Shirley) Montanez, and Nellie (Phil) Venturini; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carmen Walsh.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 pm Saturday, March 30th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Magno Roblero officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, NY, 10579.
The family received friends from 10 am until time of the service at 1 pm Saturday, at Austin & Bell. The Family will have a private viewing on April 2, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 35 Morrissey Drive Putnam Valley, NY 10579. Friends are asked to meet at Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery on April 2, at 1:30 pm, for interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the church: Iglesia Hispana Bautista Rios de Agua Viva, 1700 S Main Street, Springfield, TN 37172.
