Nell Hancock Rye, age 91, of Springfield, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024 at her home.
Mrs. Rye was born February 24, 1933 in Dover, TN to the late Clifton and Dorothy Joiner Hancock.
She worked as a florist with her husband, Mr. Archie Rye, at Springfield Florist and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Rye is preceded in death by her husband, Archie Nolan Rye, brothers, Thomas Hancock, Ray Hancock and Bernie Hancock, her sister, Barbara Byrd, her niece, Robin Byrd, nephew, Steven Kichler, and her grandson, Christopher Rye.
Mrs. Rye is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Scott Rye, Bobby Rye and Donnie and Tammy Rye; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Dale Pratt; sister, Peggy Kichler; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 on the way.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2 pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Kyle Slater and Brother Bob Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Nolan Rye, Justin Rye, Jordan Vaughn, Colin Rye, Brody Rye and Tommy Kichler serving as pallbearers. Mr. Jaxson Parks will be an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 4-7 pm and again on Monday from 12 pm until the hour of service at 2 pm.
