Marvin James Evans, Jr., 87, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Creekside Assisted Living in Murfreesboro.

Mr. Evans was born July 12, 1935, in Clarksville to the late Marvin James and Hattie McCoy Evans, Sr.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired mechanic with Neely Coble. Mr. Evans previously attended Bible Baptist Church and Battle Creek Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and was currently a member of Lights Chapel Baptist Church in Greenbrier. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of 68 years: Shirley Heflin Evans, by his sons and daughters-in-law: Danny and Bridget Evans of Murfreesboro, Michael and Nancy Evans of Tupelo, MS, by his grandchildren: Brittaney (James) Hammond, Krista Evans, and Emily Evans, and by his great-grandchildren: Cassandra and Lillian Hammond.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 13th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Duff officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The Evans family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff and employees of both Creekside Assisted Living and Avalon Hospice for the love and care shown to Mr. Evans during the past few months.
