Marlene L. (Gallman) Gregg, age 90 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024 at her home.

She was born on November 19, 1933 in Bellingham, WA to the late Waldermer “Curly” and Ethel Whitney Gallman.

She was a graduate of Mt. Baker High School in Denning, WA. Thurman went to MTSU and Marlene worked for the phone company in Nashville and they later moved to Springfield, arriving in a 1949 automobile that never started again. Marlene then opened the Sewing Basket with the help of her father-in-law, Jim, which she ran for 35 years.

Early on, Marlene, who did not want to be a golf widow, was taught by Thurman and they went as a family to play golf. She was a believer and a longtime member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she taught 2nd grade and participated in Vacation bible School and Senior Adult Choir.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Thurman, who passed away in November of 2023; her parents; her son and daughter-in-law, Steven J. and Rita F. Gregg; and brother, Merle Gallman.
