Linda Dillard Dean, 87, of Springfield, passed from this life on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Morningside of Springfield.

Linda was born February 5, 1935, in Springfield, to the late Ernest “Jack” and Nevie Rawls Dillard.

She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1953 and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Murray State University. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church in Springfield, where she served in many areas of the church and was an Elder Emeritus.

Because Linda loved Springfield and Robertson County, she was active in many different organizations. She was a golden member of the Wednesday Study Club, she was named Robertson County Business Woman of the year in 2001 by the Robertson County Career Women (RCCW), she was a trustee and former board chairperson for the Glen Memorial Women’s Club, she was a member of the Robertson County History Museum, where she formerly served as a director for 18 years, she was a member of the Robertson County Historical Society, she worked with the Cumberland Valley Girl Scouts for many years and was awarded a Lifetime Membership, and she was a member of the former Robertson County Choral Society and enjoyed singing in their annual performance of The Messiah.

Linda loved working on genealogy, which led to her being a member of the Daughters of American Colonists (DAC). During her membership, she served as Honorary National Vice President, Blue Ridge Sections National Vice President, National Historian, National Recording Secretary, Honorary Tennessee State Regent, Tennessee State Regent, State First Vice Regent, State Librarian, State Corresponding Secretary, Chapter Regent. In her spare time Linda enjoyed playing bridge, reading a variety of books, and writing poetry but most of all she loved sharing time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Jack Dillard, and by her sister and brother-in-law: Mary Sue and Vernon Johnson, Jr.

Linda is survived by her husband of 65 years: Thomas Richard “Dick” Dean of Springfield, by her son and daughter-in-law: Ken and Julie Dean of Miami, FL, by her daughter and son-in-law: Karen Dean Burke and Stephen Burke of Nashville, by her grandchildren: Thomas Park Roach and wife Andrea, Emily Dean Roach, Connor Monroe Dean, and Alexander Thomas Dean, by her great-granddaughter: Grace Roach, and by her sister-in-law: Carol Dillard of Clarksville.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Alicia Burton and Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Larry Dean, Chris Dean, Thomas Shetter, Bob Shetter, Walter Dean, Park Roach, Connor Dean, Emily Roach, Alex Dean, and John Dillard serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 11th from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
