Larry George McGee, age 74 of White House went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his home.
He was born February 8, 1948 in Eupora, MS to William and Emma Hooper McGee.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was employed for 14 years with General Motors. In 1986 he was named one of GM’s top technicians in the US. He then retired after 25 years of service with PalfleetTrucking.
Larry was an active member of Temple Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He had also served as past chairman of the deacons. He loved camping, fishing, working puzzles, reading, working in his yard and flowers, building things with his hands and as he put it just “piddlin”.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Brenda McGee, White House, TN; 5 children, Lori (Luke) Legg, Nolensville, TN; Christopher McGee, Quincy, Massachusetts; Brandon (Stephanie) McGee, Whites Creek, TN; Kimberly (Michael) Powers, White House, TN and Kevin Hopper, Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Sarah Waller, Maven, MS; 9 grandchildren, Cody Legg, Zachary Legg, Skylar McGee, Laken McGee, Blaze McGee, Garrett Davis, Logan Davis, Faith Powers and Hope Powers; 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 11 am at Temple Baptist Church 117 Marlin Road White House, TN 37188 with Bro. H.D. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in White House Memorial Gardens with Cody Legg, Zachary Legg, Blaze McGee, Garrett Davis, Logan Davis, Michael Powers and Luke Legg serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bellsouth Pioneers Camping Club.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2023 4-8 pm at Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House and 10 am-11 am on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Temple Baptist Church.
