Joyce Spicer Coleman, age 85, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 after a brief illness.
Mrs. Coleman was born June 16, 1937 in Bon Aqua, TN to the late A.D. and Pauline Spicer.
She was a graduate of Hickman County High School and Austin Peay State University. She taught kindergarten in Maury County and Robertson County, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ where she worked at Mom’s Day Out and taught the nursery class during Sunday School.
Mrs. Coleman loved traveling but her favorite place was at home surrounded by her family. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and walking miles on the YMCA track.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coleman is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Paul Foriest Coleman and siblings, Paul Spicer, Lois Green, Buna Edney, Bobbie Somerville, and Ronnie Spicer. She is survived by four children, Sherrol (Stanley) Jones, Eric (Becky) Coleman, Connie (Al) Herchenhahn, and Phil (Ginger) Coleman; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 11 am at the Main Street Church of Christ in Springfield. Burial will follow at 3 pm in the Totty’s Bend Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 4-8 pm and again on Tuesday from 10 am until the hour of service at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Main Street Church of Christ or the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund. Any donations may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
