John Roy Claibourne Sr., age 89 of White House passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Jubilee Hills Senior Living in Goodlettsville, TN.
He was born February 4, 1933 in Nashville, TN to Marion Smiley & Gladys Winfred Blankenship Claibourne.
Lieutenant Claibourne was retired, after 25 years of service, from the Metro Nashville Police Department He was a member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder. After retiring, Mr. and Mrs. Claibourne enjoyed traveling.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Claibourne Sanders.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Ozzie Claibourne, White House, TN; son, John R. (Sheila) Claibourne, Jr., White House, TN; daughter, Kay (Mike) Baker, Fort Worth, TX; brother, Marion “M.S.” (Pat) Claibourne, Springfield, TN; 5 grandchildren, Chris, Matt, Narey, Julie and Holly; 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Charles Baugh officiating. Interment will follow in White House Memorial Gardens with Chris Claibourne, Matt Graves, Scott Claibourne, Wyatt Claibourne, Tyler Adams and Jeff Cooper serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be M.S.Claibourne and elders of Goodlettsville Church of Christ. Visitation with the family is planned for Saturday, January 7, 2023 10 am until 2 pm at the funeral home.
