John Ewing Jernigan, Sr., age 86 of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Dr. Claire Jasper-Crafter officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Jernigan was born October 20, 1935 in White House to the late W.T. and Castella Hudson Jernigan. He was a member of Second Grove CME Church in White House where he loved worshiping and fellowshipping. He was the longtime owner of Ewing’s Restaurant, where he enjoyed serving his customers and greeting them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Ewing Jernigan, Jr; two brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, JoAnn Jernigan of Springfield; sisters, Dorothy Jernigan Freeland of Springfield and Shervie Jernigan Holland of Antioch; grandchildren, Lanika Jernigan and John Ewing Jernigan, III; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
