John Donkin Sr.

John Michael Donkin, Sr., 61, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at TriStar North Crest Medical Center.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, November 20th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

John was born May 23, 1960, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He has worked for Hinkle Chair for 40 plus years and was currently serving as Plant Manager, and he was a member of Battle Creek Baptist Church. John loved woodworking, was an excellent carpenter, a fixer upper, enjoyed fishing, gardening, working in his yard, playing his guitar, singing, designing furniture, and painting murals on various items. He was a big family man and always enjoyed being with his grandchildren and being involved in whatever activities were taking place in their lives. John has always been and will always be “Pops” in the hearts of his family that loved him so much. He was preceded in death by his father: James F. Donkin, and by his brothers: Jim Donkin and Tim Donkin.

John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Fay Dorris Donkin, by his son and daughter-in-law: John Michael and Susan Donkin, Jr., of Springfield, by his daughter: Tabitha Donkin of Springfield, by his grandchildren: Chelsea Donkin, Grant Donkin, Avery Donkin, and Alise Donkin, by his mother: Claudette Martin of Springfield, by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill Donkin of Springfield, Tom and Kathy Donkin of Nashville, Kerrie Donkin of Springfield, by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Cathy and Randy All of Las Vegas, NV, Cindi (Charles) Stafford of North Carolina, and by his half-sisters: Kim Hawley Evans and Linda Taylor.
