Joan O’Neal Beers, 87, of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at St. Thomas West Hospital.

Ms. Joan was born June 25, 1936, in White House, to the late William and Effie Mae Lassiter O’Neal.

She was a retired seamstress from Acme Boot, a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church, and was an Ambassador of Windland South Retirement Center. Ms. Joan loved keeping up with her family and friends on Facebook, being a grandmother, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jordan Elias “Shorty” Beers, Sr., by her daughter: Pamela Beers Casteel, by her sons: Jordan Elias Beers, Jr., and Toney Beers, and by her siblings: Vernon O’Neal, Sr., William O’Neal, Lawson Wiggins, Helen Allen, Ruth Fuqua, Bertha West, and Louise Harper.

Ms. Joan is survived by her daughter: Kay Beers Lampley and husband Butch of Fairview, by her son: Terry Beers and wife Susan of Springfield, by her grandchildren: Jamie (Christine) Casteel, A.J. (Deidre) Lampley, Casey (Cass) Lampley, Jacob (Kala) Lampley, Dustin Wilkins, Jennifer (Charles) Poole, and Kyle (Tiffany) Wilkins, and by her 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Brother Billy Traughber and Butch O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tim Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Vernon O’Neal, Jr., Robert O’Neal, Randy Pulley, Trey O’Neal, Jamie Cook, and Josh Pulley. Honorary pallbearers will be SgtMaj Frank E. Pulley USMC (Ret), Ryan Scott, Nick Johnson, Ronnie Fuqua, Josh O’Neal, and Bob O’Neal, Jr. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. https://www.robertsoncountyfuneralhome.com
