On Monday afternoon, November 11, 2025, Glenn Robert Hollingsworth, a native and proud lifelong resident of Robertson County, moved from his earthly home to one in heaven to be united with the God he sought, family, and numerous friends.
Born at his childhood home in Barren Plains on March 1, 1929, to Dottsie (Dunn) and James “Pete” Hollingsworth, he was the third of four children where a love of family was instilled early and stayed with him all of his days.
After graduating from Barren Plains High School, Glenn married Marjorie Orman Hollingsworth in November 1948, beginning a 61-year journey together. During those six decades, they raised two sons, built fuel and farming businesses, relished their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveled, and left a legacy of love and devotion to the end of both of their lives.
In the later years of Glenn’s life, many of his happiest times were simple days spent fishing, at family dinners, in his gardens, visiting with friends, watching ball games, serving in various ministries at Springfield Baptist Church, and making thousands of chocolate turtles each holiday season to give away. He led with love and the fun always followed.
In addition to his wife and parents, he looked forward to being reunited with his son Don Hollingsworth, and siblings, Jimmy Hollingsworth, Ralph Hollingsworth, and Christine (Hollingsworth) Dozier.
He will be missed by son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Cheri Hollingsworth and daughter-in-law, Glenda Hollingsworth. Grandchildren Jinnifer (Ben) Johnston, Rachel (Clayton) Richardson, Suzann Hollingsworth, Corbitt (Audrey) Hollingsworth, and Mary Glenn (Marc) Fatton. Great grandchildren Mallory Johnston, Morgan-Blair Richardson, Avery Johnston, Amelia Richardson, Emmy Cate Hollingsworth, Spencer Fatton, and Ellie Hollingsworth. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes those who also want to remember and celebrate his life with visitation on Friday, November 15th from 3-7 pm, and again Saturday, November 16th from 12 pm until the funeral at 2 pm in the chapel at Austin and Bell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Jerry Dozier, Marc Fatton, Corbitt Hollingsworth, Mark Hollingsworth, Mike Hollingsworth, Jack Hollingsworth, Ben Johnston, and Clayton Richardson serving as pallbearers.
