The Good Lord called Glen Dorris, Jr., age 71 of Greenbrier, formerly of Nashville, home on Sunday, August 29, 2021 to be with his Mom, Dorothy Kelso Dorris; his Dad, Glen Dorris, Sr.; and his brother, Gary Dorris, all of whom preceded him in death. Glen’s remains will be cremated and no public service is planned at this time.
Glen was a man of few words but many deeds. As an Eagle Scout, he learned early the meaning of doing good and helping others but doing it quietly without fanfare.
After 17 years as a manager with Kroger and 20 years with Pepsi, being a doer, Glen tried his hand at mechanics, carpentry, concrete, landscaping, electrical, cooking, and he was good at all. He wasn’t all work though. He loved fishing, camping, sports, his koi pond, bird watching, growing wildflowers, driving his tractor, and reading.
Glen will be missed not only by his wife of 33 years, Linda Bowie Dorris of Greenbrier, by his two daughters, Olivia (Scott Smith) Dorris and Mende (Jason) Pattee, both of Nashville. His 2 granddaughters, Lana Pattee and Elise Pattee, will especially miss spending time with their Poppee. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association. All donations may be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
