Emily Virginia Houk Rodefer, 24, of Springfield, passed from this life on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 11th at 1:00 p.m. at South Haven Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Gagliano officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Anthony Rodefer, Kevin Houk, Paul Rodefer, Kelly Houk, Jess Ehler, Brandon Houk, and Joshua Houk serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at South Haven Baptist Church.
Emily was born December 28, 1996, in Dayton, OH. She was a preschool teacher at South Haven School and was a member of South Haven Baptist Church. Emily was always a person that could make others smile. Spending time with her family was very important to her and she always looked forward to family time. The loves of Emily’s life were her husband Anthony, whom she married in 2018, and her daughter Isabelle who brought joy to her heart and a smile to her face every hour of each day. Emily was so looking forward to the birth of her and Anthony’s second child, their son, Alexander Paul Rodefer. She was 14 weeks into her pregnancy when Alexander was delivered stillborn on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Emily was preceded in death by her son: Alexander Paul Rodefer, by her twin sister: Andrea Houk, and by her grandmother: Vera Webber.
Emily is survived by her husband: Anthony “A.J.” Rodefer of Springfield, by her two-year-old daughter: Isabelle Marie Rodefer of Springfield, by her father: Kevin (Amy) Houk of Troy, OH, by her mother: Mary Polidore Houk of Englewood, OH, by her brothers: Brandon and Joshua Houk both of Fairborn, OH, by her sisters: Katie Houk of Centerville, OH, and Crystal Houk of Kettering, OH, by her grandparents: Charles “Chuck” and Cheryl Houk of Helena, Montana, and by her in-laws: Paul and Angi Rodefer of Springfield.
