Dixie D. Claiborne, age 88, of Greenbrier, passed away on July 2nd, 2023 at Maple Cottages Assisted Living in Portland, TN. Mrs. Claiborne was born in Lafayette, TN on March 30th, 1935 to the late Everette Ray Harper & the late Dixie Gorden Sloan.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Claiborne was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Claiborne; and siblings, Bill Harper, Gordon Harper, Bobby Harper, Virgie Whitley, June Bowman.
Mrs. Claiborne is survived by son, James Michael Claiborne of Greenbrier; daughter, Peggy (Eddie) Slagle of Lafayette; grandchildren, Danielle Renee (Daniel) Greene of Cottontown, Daniel Chad Whitehead of Greenbrier, & Ashley Genelle (Stu) Mobley of Murfreesboro; four great grandchildren, Bridgette Madison & Annabeth Dixie Greene, Maura Sloan, & Laurel Scotlyn Mobley; sister, Shirley (Shep) Holmes of Westmoreland and sister, P. Rolark.
Dixie, also known to many as Ma-Ma, was a homemaker and her’s was a home to so many. She loved being with her family more than anything. She attended Luton’s Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for years. Dixie was a ray of spunky sunshine wherever she went. When she saw you, she greeted you with an open smile and a hug. She truly was one of a kind.
There will be a memorial service for Mrs. Claiborne at 10:00 am on July 7th, 2023 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. David Harper officiating.
Visitation for Mrs. Claiborne will be on July 7th, 2023 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am (service time) at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home
