Dewey Raymond Newberry, age 88, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.
Mr. Newberry was born November 13, 1938 to the late Herman and Gladys Smith Newberry.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a tractor mechanic until his retirement from Nashville Ford Tractor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Newberry is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Annie Catherine Gregory Newberry, his brother, Billy Newberry, and his nephew Jerry “Buster” Morris.
Mr. Newberry is survived by his nephew, Jeff Morris of Barren Plains; great nieces and nephews, Ashley (Josh) Henderson of Cedar Hill, Dusty Morris of Barren Plains, and Ben (Candy) Armistead of Springfield; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Eli Henderson, Easton Henderson, Addie Armistead and Kaylee Morris.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25, 2023 at 12 pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Randy Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jeff Morris, Josh Henderson, Ben Armistead, Dusty Morris, Eli Henderson and Easton Henderson serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10 am until the hour of service at 12 pm.
