Charles William Evers, Jr., age 93, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with military honors will be conducted at 11am Sunday, December 7, 2025, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.
Mr. Evers was born January 26, 1932, in Newark, NJ, to the late Charles William Evers, Sr., and the late Catherine Marie Ford Evers. He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 19 and retired 20 years later as a Major. After retirement from the military, Mr. Evers was a Carpet Salesman for a while before joining his daughter, Debbie, in her Accounting business. He was a proud member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE), and served as an Exalted Ruler, and part of the Ritual Team.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Audrey Evers; son, David (Robin) Evers; daughters, Kat (John) Hastings, Debbie Knight, and Sheri (Charlie) Rock; 9 grandchildren, Laura, Rebecca, Chris, Stephanie, Steven, Shellie, Kelsey, Audra and Christina; 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
