Bobbie Dean McKinney, age 85 of Greenbrier passed away on January 3, 2022 at her home.
She was born on June 17, 1936 to the late Frank and Idia Abney in Livingston, TN.
Ms. Bobbie was a self-taught seamstress and upholster making beautiful clothing, blankets, and recovering furniture. She loved her boys and would laugh and say she had enough to make a football team. Her Sundays were spent in church at Cornerstone Church where she was involved with a Woman’s Bible Study group and enjoyed singing in the choir.
At the age of 60, Ms. Bobbie went back to school and finished her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and enjoyed teaching until her retirement. She loved people and especially teaching the youth of tomorrow.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband Robert “Skeeter” McKinney; sons, Bobby Hamby and Kenny Hamby; sister, Bonnie Abney Webster, and granddaughter, Dustie Nicole Hamby.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Eva) Hamby, Michael (Denise) Kelly, Christopher Kelly, Leo Kelly, and Eric Schiavone; granddaughter, Katherine Kelly; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters Billie Myers and Glenda Sanders Grant and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 8th at 2 pm in the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
