Billie Jean Burney, age 91, of Cedar Hill, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.
Mrs. Burney was born November 28, 1930 in Nashville to the late Thomas Wade and Mary Louise Cooksey Gregory. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burney is preceded in death by her husband, James Burney, her son, Tom Burney, and her daughter, Pat Burney Byrne.
Mrs. Burney is survived by her daughter, Sandy Yates; grandchildren, Stephanie Murphey, Jamie Burney, Shannon Holt, Stacy Byrne, and Katy Barnhart; 6 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10, 2022 at 2 pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Bruce Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunn Cemetery in Cedar Hill with Nicholas Murphey, Jamie Burney, Jamie Barnhart, Landon Joyce, Wesley Stuard, and Garry Pangborn serving as pallbearers. Mr. Eric Carneal is an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11 am until the hour of service at 2 pm.
