Barbara Jane Harris, age 84, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at NHC Springfield surrounded by many of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 2 pm at Eastland Heights Baptist Church with her Pastor, James Shoulders, officiating.
Mrs. Harris was born November 10, 1937 in Springfield, TN, to the late Simon Durham and Thelma Stack.
Barbara raised four children, mostly in Honduras, Central America, where she fostered a fun spirit of adventure in all of her children. She was always filled with amazing stories and ready to entertain her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her special and precious daughter, Jane, was the centerpiece of her life. Barbara especially loved her church, its members along with singing in the choir. Growing flowers, tomatoes, watching the squirrels and birds in her yard brought her a lot of joy.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris is preceded in death by her former husband Hugh Thomas (Bo) Harris.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lillian Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Pete Fisher; son and daughter-in-law, David and Pam Harris, and her daughter, Jane Harris; grandchildren, Dina (Clay), Sean (Jessica), Brenda, Chris (Morgan), Ethan (Amber), Olivia and Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Harlan, Thomas, Ella, and Amelia.
