Alvin Lynn Heiderich, age 80 of Springfield, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at his home.

He was born on February 21, 1943, to the late Charles and Chloe (Page) Heiderich in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

After graduating from Moore High School, Lynn joined the United States Air Force on March 6, 1963. He spent eleven months serving in Vietnam where he would receive the Vietnam Service Medal, Nation Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. During his four years of service, he would also receive the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the 314th Trans Squadron. Lynn was honorably discharged from active duty on January 18, 1967.

Alvin would continue to serve his country with the Tennessee Air National Guard as a motor pull mechanic until his retirement 2003. His last station was at Berry Field Air National Guard with the rank of Master Sergeant. He truly believed in the Air Force Motto: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

Lynn married the love of his life in 1978, Linda Gene Roark. They raised four beautiful children, Richard, Jeffery, Jeremy, and Krissy.

Together they would enjoy 45 years of a wonderful marriage celebrating many holidays, the marriage of all four children, and the births of seven amazing grandchildren that would fill their home with even more love and laughter. They enjoyed Sundays at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, vacations spent with Krissy at Navarre Beach, drag racing with the boys where they would receive their need for speed, or watching the grandchildren play sports.

As the years went by it became necessary for Lynn to step in as a full-time caregiver for his beloved wife. He met her every need until she passed in August of 2022.

Lynn was a patient man, who worked hard for his family, he loved them dearly and was truly selfless. He believed As Long As You’re Happy…. That’s All That Mattered.

In addition to his parents, Lynn is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Heiderich, and sister, Connie Manes.

He is survived by his children, Richard Wayne (Colette) Barton, Jeffrey Lynn (Terri) Heiderich, Jeremy Allen (Yvonne) Heiderich, and Krissy (Jason) Payne; grandchildren, Chloe Barton. Cole Heiderich, Corey (Lily Phillips) Heiderich, Hunter Heiderich, Gage Heiderich, Vans Rylee Payne, and Evan Payne; brother, Wayne (Betty) Heiderich and Kent (Ruth) Heiderich and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in the rotunda at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 27th from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
