Mr. Morris was born May 24, 1939 in Robertson County to the late J.C. and Cecil Johnson Morris.

He was a cowboy, a logger, a construction worker, a farmer, and whatever he needed to be at the time. He was the roughest, toughest man you would meet, but the softest, sweetest person you could ever know, even playing Santa at times. He was “Papaw” to his favorites, “Daddy” to his next, and “Uncle Alford” or “Mr. Alford” to most. He always seemed to be happy, laughing and smiling every time you saw him, and will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris is preceded in death by his daughters, Beverly Jane Morris and Tammy Annette Morris, his brother, James Wayne Morris, his sister, Faye Hall, his daughter-in-law, Tonya Morris, and his son-in-law, Paul Roark.

Mr. Morris is survived by the mother of his children, Sammie Reid Morris; his children, Melinda Roark, Timothy “Bubba” Morris, Susan and husband, Delvin Hester, and Dennis and wife, Jill Morris; sisters, Johnnie Hand and Abbigail and husband, Billy Jackson; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
